I have recently discovered that I have the profound urge to share my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with you. Of all things, this is possibly one of the most difficult for me to do. I have these impressions and feelings about his gospel, but yet find it extremely hard to put them into words that fully justify the true beauty and recognition of the impressions and thoughts.
While I that my words may not have such a strong impact on you, I know one way that you might feel these things for yourself. The answer is simple. Pray. I ask that you pray with an open mind and heart to give this church and The Book of Mormon a try.
It was not too long ago that even I found myself questioning the church. You see, I was born as a member and accepted the gospel as it was. However, I feel that there is a time in everyone's life where they question the gospel or simply don't have it yet. These times can most certainly be a trial. In my questioning state I prayed. I felt the overwhelming confirmation and assurance that this church is -in fact- the true church of Christ. I know that if you pray with an open mind and heart that you will too.
This gospel brings something entirely different to life. I mean this in many different ways. For example, I mean that because of it I can wake up every morning with a deeper meaning/perspective for my life and a desire for good than I would without it. A lot of this greater perspective and desire to do good comes from the scriptures. The Book of Mormon being a component to the quad.
Scriptures bring forth another important point. I know that they are true! I also know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ. You might or might not be wondering how I can be so certain. After all, I do not use the word 'know' lightly. Well, I have simply received my confirmation through prayer! I simply cannot emphasis how important a tool that prayer is. It is basically a gateway/connection to our Heavenly Father!! How great is that?
We are equipped with certain tools(such as scriptures and prayer) on Earth. The entire purpose are these are so that we can return to and even form a bond Him. Seeing that Earth is an opportunity to be tried of our faith, we need these tool immensely. While Earth is so beneficial to strengthening us spiritually, it can also strip us and blind us. Worldly wickedness can lead us astray. By using our tools, we can unblind ourselves and see our boundaries more clearly.
I know that even if we transgress minorly or majorly, we can be redeemed. Because of the atonement of Christ we can repent. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ payed for our sins. Not his. Ours. He was perfect. If you have read the Bible or know of it, you most likely know how the story goes. I would like to testify to you that I know that this is true. Repentance is a major role in perfecting ourselves in order to return to Him. As long as we are mortal beings, we simply cannot be perfect. That is just how it goes. However, with the tool of repentance, we can be! It is direly important to remember that we cannot merely accept the gospel and move on believing that we are saved. We have to work on it.
This gospel is SO beautiful and brings such peace, comfort, and beauty that I would otherwise not know. As a friend I want you to know it too. Use one of the most useful tools that you, a child of God, are equipped with. Pray.
