Well, I've done it! I've definitely finished a Young Women's Personal Progress 10 hour project. Actually, I've finished 100x that. You see, on the topic of Individual Worth I was given the opportunity to develop a marketable skill that I could apply in a future occupation. Back when I started this project I wanted to do something with music. I didn't know what. I could have learned anything from bassoon to xylophone. For some odd reason I decided on piano. Well, 1,000 hours of piano was well out of the question. Just 10 hours was all that I needed in order to learn the basic scales and technique.
One day I flew home from Oregon to Iowa. I eventually got home and walked in to find a pretty upright grand piano in the living room. Well, you don't just quit when your parents buy you that instrument, do you? I decided that one hour a day would be efficient enough to get something done daily and to be able to please them. However, on the first day I got sucked into spending over two hours on that piano. Everyday since I've spent two hours or more on that thing.
Eventually I got to the point to which I could basically sight read sheet music smoothly. I could only read treble clef, though. I worked on bass clef and playing both at the same time. Although I cannot play on the spot, perfectly, and fastly on the first try, I am getting there.
This is my 1,000 hour Personal Progress Project.
