I'm approaching my three year anniversary of starting to play piano! I remember the beginning of Freshman year I decided that I would like to learn to do something new and practice for all of high school. I had hopes that I might become 'okay' at it. Since I loved music so much, I chose to learn an instrument. After debating between guitar and piano, I eventually chose piano. I've never had a single piano lesson in my life and so the task seemed particularly daunting. How was I supposed to play piano if I could only read treble clef on saxophone? How was I going to learn the techniques as to how to play properly? Well, I answer you with beginner piano books. Yeah, I was the fourteen year old with piano books meant for five year olds. What can I say? They worked on getting me started!
Don't get me wrong. I'm definitely still learning. I'm just so happy that in three short years of self-teaching I can sight read music in bass and treble clef. I have the ability to improve which overjoys me. In celebration, here is a video of the most recent song I've learned. Sonatina in A Minor.
(Note: Please excuse the mess-ups.)
