My Thought For The Day.

It doesn’t matter what harrowing statements have been made about your character because those words don’t determine you. When people make you feel unloved, it means that they make you feel unworthy of affection, unvalued, rejected, neglected, and not wanted. In fact, they make you feel small and insignificant. Like the world could live without you. Well, I’m not going to be the one to lie to you. The world will keep turning without you. But you know what? That doesn’t make you any less important.
For our entire lives, we have the power and the capability to share what we think and feel if we have the desire to. We have the power to change ourselves and each other through words. We use words to accomplish so much for our betterment. However, we often soil the sacred and divine power that we are given in communication by letting pernicious things escape our mouths.
There’s this theory that says that perhaps people let hateful speech escape because they want to feel better about themselves. I cannot say that I disagree, but I can admit that I don’t think that’s all that is to it. I like to think that in addition to this theory, that the reason people make these remarks about others is because that’s what they feel about themselves. They make their insecurities known by pointing a finger and flinging their insecure thoughts at another. If someone else has this insecurity, they aren’t alone. Of course, I haven’t always realized this. I used to think that when words were used against me, those words had to have been true. People who are so confident and seemingly flawless couldn’t have insecurities, couldn’t be jealous of me, and definitely couldn’t believe that I am an equal to them in spirit. I wish I would have figured this out sooner.
